You are receiving this newsletter because you have somehow impacted my life or opted in to receive it. Even if we haven't talked for a while or it's been years since our last communication, I want you to know that I'm grateful for our connection.
“Your niche isn’t a lifelong commitment. It’s a hypothesis you test, learn from, and refine..."
Till death (or declining engagement) do us part
Dear Karen,
Someone booked a clarity call with me recently because she wanted help getting clear on her niche.
I understood why. Few business decisions carry this much unnecessary emotional weight.
Who do I help? Is this too specific? Not specific enough? What if six months from now I don't want to do this anymore?
Suddenly, choosing a niche feels like choosing who you're going to marry.
Till death, or declining Instagram engagement, do us part.
It doesn't need to be that serious.
Here's what I told her: think like a clinician.
You assess. You gather information. You form a working hypothesis. You intervene. You observe. You reassess.
You would never say, "Well, I chose this care plan in January, so we're required to continue it for the rest of the patient's natural life."
Your niche works the same way. It's a hypothesis you test in real conversations with real people. It isn't a decision you make alone at your desk while you wait for divine revelation.
In the full article, I cover:
-
how to choose a working niche instead of a perfect one
- the questions I'd ask in those conversations, and the one I'd skip
-
why clarity often comes after you commit, not before

One quick question for you.
I'm thinking about hosting a workshop on finding and testing your niche. (Yes, I'm taking my own advice and asking before I build it.)
If that would help you, hit reply and type "workshop." If you want to add the one niche question you keep going around in circles on, even better. Your answers will shape what goes into it.
Choose. Talk to people. Test. Adjust.
With love,
Karen
